December 2018

Julia Penland has volunteered to coordinate the CCEA Neighborhood Watch Program.  We sure could use some help and would love to have a volunteer for each block in Cherry Creek East.  If you are interested, please contact   It is important to relay suspicious activity to the Denver Police Non-emergency:  720-913-2000.  We can help them do their jobs by communicating this information…they can’t do their jobs if they don’t have the information.

One of our best attended social gatherings may be ending.  Cellar Dwellers has no further wine-loving, food-loving hosts for Cellar Dwellers.  Please consider hosting this fun and easy neighborhood event.  Team up with someone!   Have others bring food!  Keep it simple! There's really nothing to it.  Many of the same neighbors have been hosting year after year, and that's great.  However, the fact is that we need new people to step up.  If you've been coming to Cellar Dwellers, enjoying the fun but hesitating to host, please jump in and give it a try.  We need you!  Also, remember the clubhouse at Le Jardin is available for use.  Please contact Jane Nero at for further information.

 The Wednesday Rides -
Cycling is at a moderate pace, for about 25-30 miles, often followed by lunch.  Please e-mail Carol Hopper at to receive notices about the rides, which will be announced two days in advance.

The Friday biking group is The Goats
(Go Out And Tour Somewhere).  These rides are 25-35 miles.  We will try to live up to our new name and explore different routes around Denver.  Lunch is always an option.  This group is led by Fran and Barry Lazarus.  Please email to receive notices for the rides each week, which will be announced two days in advance.

We are looking for more bridge players!  Julie Predhomme coordinates bridge club in the neighborhood.  If you are interested in participating, please contact Julie at  Make sure that you let her know if you are a beginner, intermediate, or advanced player. This is a fun and easy game to play.

CHERRY CREEK EAST SINGLES – Happy Holidays - See you in January!

This is a great way to meet other singles in our neighborhood.  If you would like any further information, please contact Judith Curts at

If you love to watch movies, this is a great way to watch movies you may never have heard of before.  We have a great discussion and pass along other movie recommendations.  Flick Flack members get together quarterly to discuss a movie that we watch independently before the meeting.  The host picks the movie in advance and provides the beverages and light snack.  If you do not feel comfortable hosting it in your home, the Le Jardin clubhouse is usually available for use.  Movie options can include movies currently in the theater or movies that can be downloaded and watched at home.  New members are always welcome.  Please contact Jane Nero at if you are interested in joining.

MAHJONG - Thursdays at 2:00 pm

The ski pass industry has split into two camps following the introduction of Aspen-Alterra Mountain’s IKON Pass and Vail’s EPIC Pass.  In informal discussions with CCEA members, many of us have purchased the IKON Pass or are considering purchasing it.  If you are interested, the Ikon Pass can be purchased at
We would like to determine:
If the CCEA residents that ski at Copper Mountain, Winter Park and/or Eldora are interested in:
      Carpooling, or
Meeting up at the ski area to ski together.
Determine if there is an interest in coordinating ski trips to some of the iconic ski areas the Rocky Mountains has to offer.
Ski resorts to consider include Steamboat, Taos, and Jackson Hole.  Another option could be a Utah trip that could include Alta, Snowbird, Brighton or Solitude.  All of these areas are accessible by car in less than a one day’s full drive.
If you have interest in a CCEA IKON Ski Group, please send an email to Please include your response to the above two questions.  Only IKON Pass holders, please.  If we have enough interest, we will go forward with a CCEA IKON Ski Group.

Interested in joining a new book club?  We have several book clubs active in our neighborhood.  If interested, please contact

WOMEN’S WINE AND DINE – First Wednesday Each Month - January 2
We meet on the first Wednesday of the month and try restaurants in the area.  This is a great way for the women from the neighborhood to meet and mingle with one another.  Typically we start at 5:30, so we can take advantage of the happy hour, if the restaurant offers it.  This event is open to everyone in the neighborhood!  Attendance is sometimes limited, due to restaurant restrictions. If interested, please contact Amy Larson at
